♡ THIS I am honoured to be sharing my heart alo ♡ THIS

I am honoured to be sharing my heart along side of @brent_36 - Brent Henry at the @southamptonarts this May. Details of our reception will be coming soon! We are considering May 15th.

♡ I can't wait to share this work with you.

SHADOWS

Shadows cast across our lives define our perception of our experience, both the dark and light materials of our existence. We respond to deeply personal darknesses while moving through still blacker currents that sweep humanity in their tides. “Shadows” presents the work of two artists; a study in contrasts. Susan Seitz is an established artist who has been a vibrant lodestone of creativity at Southampton Arts for years, admired for being a fierce advocate of mental health. She is a white woman in middle age looking inwards at the consequences of grief, finding a path through it; her individual darkness healed by the flickering shadows cast in the forest, turned to the sun overhead. She presents, “Up Close and Personal | A Healing Journey through Grief”. Brent Henry is an emerging artist whose raw, expressive pieces compelled emotional engagement last summer in the “Colours of Creation” show. His body of work, “Come and See | Culture Oppressed” is presented in “Shadows” from his perspective as a young, Indigenous man researching the deep wounds cut through his people by colonialism and the Residential School system. He is using his voice in his hometown Arts Centre on his own terms; a firebrand held to settler causality. Grief as personal. Grief as collective. Inevitably, these contrasts highlight the privilege of personal grief. They should. But powerfully, these contrasts illuminate our shared responsibility to each other; woman, man, old, young, white, indigenous. Human. Ultimately, both artists are asking us to bear witness; to show up for them with accountability and vulnerability; to allow them to transmute the darkness of pain with the light of empathy, of connection. They are showing us bravery. We have only to look.

👣🌿👣 Because it IS hard, is one of the man 👣🌿👣 Because it IS hard, is one of the many reasons I do it.

Practice running got me to run 10K last year for the first time ever.  I love pretending!  LOL ... it's like "oh ... look at me run!!!"  I laugh at myself sometimes.  And yes, it is one of the hardest things I've ever done.  But I am fascinated with the experience of it all.  Running actually slows things down for me.  I am able to feel my body deeply while doing it.  I can feel what is happening to my muscles, to my lungs and to my mind.

It is also the strangest thing to feel dead inside and alive at the same time!  Having oxygen pump through my veins brings me back ... brings me back to feeling again.  Feeling alive and loving everything around me.

AND ... I get to stop along the way and be creative with my photography.

A win win all around wouldn't you say!

What brings you back to feeling again?

With love,

Me ♡

She often calls

Sometimes

I don't answer

Sometimes

I lay wondering

Why the pull inside me

Is stronger

Than my reality

Sometimes I'm afraid

Of my thoughts

And I run away

Looking back

I can't find

Them

or

Her

Sometimes I answer

To the sunlight

That finds me

And the ringtone

That matches

The tone

Of my voices

Within

Connecting

And questioning

The sweet

Devine timing

Being curious

And noticing

I am not

Alone

Today

She found me

Under the tree branch

Standing

In the sand

Belonging

And Longing

For her touch

I said hello

With a whisper

She answered back

With clarity

Giving me more

Than I ever

Thought

Was possible

Today I answered

The call

And I am so grateful

I did
